Andrew Evans

Inductee

Andrew Graduated from Colbert County High School in Leighton where he lettered as a football, track and baseball athlete. In football he was a member of three 3A state championship teams in 1993,1994 and 1996. He was a versatile player for the Indians as he played quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back, punter, place kicker and punt returner as a senior. He was selected to the 1996 3A All-State team as a punter. Andy was a four year letterman on the Indians baseball team playing shortstop and centerfield helping to lead them to the 3A semi-finals his senior campaign in 1997. During his senior season he batted. .324, hit five homeruns, and was selected to the 3A  All-Area team. while playing baseball he also ran track lettering for two years competing in the 400 meters and the mile. After completing his high school career he went on to play centerfield for the Northwest Shoals Vikings leading the team with a .462 batting average while hitting eight homeruns as he was selected to both the All Conference and All Region teams. Following his freshman season at Northwest he played three seasons at the University of Alabama Huntsville. During his junior season at UAH he set a school record batting .411 while leading the Chargers to the Gulf South Conference title. He was selected to the GSC All Conference Team in 2001.
