Inductee

Chuck was a 1955 graduate of Deshler High School. He was at three sport athlete for the Tigers playing football, baseball and running track. When he tried out for the 1952 squad he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and play guard but Coach Howard Chappell decided he was better suited to play fullback because of his speed and strength. He excelled at that position and was selected All Tri-Cities three times, all TVC twice, All-State, All-American and played in the High School All-American Classic in Memphis. In addition he received he " Butler Trophy " as the Tri-Cities best football player. Following high school he played for the University of Alabama and was selected Freshman of the year.
