A 2002 graduate of Colbert County High School Brandon was a standout football and basketball player. In football he was a defensive back and was recognized as an All-State performer during his senior season as the Indians reached the finals of the 3A playoffs. While Brandon was an outstanding football player it was basketball where he excelled. He averaged 23 points per game over the course of his career as a starter from 2000 through 2002. He was named to the 3A All-State team in 2002 and was chosen to the All- Area team for three consecutive seasons as well. Additionally, he was named to the final four All-Tournament team in 2002 and was the TimesDaily 1A-3A Player of the Year. After high school Brandon went on to play for the University of West Alabama on a basketball scholarship where he broke the freshman scoring record and was the Gulf-South Conference Freshman of the Year. He later transferred to Alabama A&M as a senior year and helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2005 SWAC championship as A&M qualified for the Division One playoffs and March Madness.
