Brad Laxton
Inductee
Brad graduated from Deshler High School in 1994 where he was a three- time state wrestling champion. He helped lead the Tigers to runner-up finishes in the state tournament in both 1993 and 1994. He also played football and baseball during his high school career and was voted team captain in both sports. Following high school, he received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy where he was a member of the wrestling team. After a year at the Academy, Brad chose not to pursue a career in the military, opting for a coaching career instead. In 1996 he served as an assistant wrestling coach at Huntsville High school followed by stops as an assistant at Suwannee High School in Live Oak, Florida and then to East Hamilton High in Tennessee. Brad became the Head Wrestling Coach at East Ridge High School in 2010 and then moved to Soddy Daisy High school as an assistant in 2013 before becoming the Head Coach in 2018. He led Soddy Daisy to a 2017 runner-up finish in the Tennessee State Dual Team Championships. Brad is now retired from Coaching, but tonight he adds to the Laxton family wrestling legacy joining his brother Chad and Dad Bob as members of the Colbert County Sports Hall of Fame.
