A graduate of Colbert County High School where he was an All-Area and All-State receiver, Chris helped lead the Indians to a 13-2 season and the 3-A State Championship Game in 2000. He was also chosen to play in the North/South All-Star Game representing the North squad in the contest. In addition to being an outstanding member of the football team he excelled on both the hardwood in basketball averaging 16 points per game and was the 200 meters and 400 meters champion at the Alabama Track and Field Championships. After high school he was signed to a football scholarship to play for Southwest Missouri State where he earned playing time as a freshman. He then transferred to Northeast Mississippi Community College where he had 42 pass receptions for 839 yards and four touchdowns in 2002-2003. Following that stellar season at Northeast he went on to finish his college career playing for the University or New Mexico Lobos.
