Ashley was a graduate of Deshler High School where she was a member of the Tigers 4A State Championship Basketball Team in 2003 and was  also named the State Tournament MVP for that season. During Ashley's outstanding high school career, she scored 1447 points, had 1163 rebounds, and had five, 30 - point games during her 2003 senior season. She helped the Lady Tigers win four County Championships, four Area Championships, three Northwest Regional Championships, and made four final four appearances. She was selected to the North/South ALL Star team during her junior year, and to the Mississippi/Alabama ALL Star team following her senior season. Additionally, Ashley was named to the ALL-State Team and was the 4A Player of the year in 2003. She was also name a McDonalds ALl-American Nominee that year. Following high School, she was awarded a college scholarship to Wallace State Community College in Hanceville where she averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds for the Lady Lions during the 2004-05 season.
