Bo Carter

Bo is a native of Sheffield, Alabama and a 1974 graduate of Vanderbilt University. He has been associated with conference and school athletics media relations since 1970. He served as an assistant in athletics media relations from 1970-74 while studying at Vanderbilt as in intern with The TENNESSEAN. In addition, he later worked full time with the paper covering Vanderbilt baseball along with Freshman/JV football and basketball. In 1974 Bo moved to Mississippi State University as assistant sports information director. In 1978 he was named SID at Mississippi State. in 1986, Bo was chosen as the final director of media relations for the Southwest Conference and was promoted to assistant commissioner in 1995. From 1996-2006, he served as director of media relations, assistant commissioner, sports information, and historian for the Big 12 Conference. He was named to the college Sports Information Directors Hall of Fame in 2005. He is a 44 year member of the Football Writers Association, the National Football Foundation, and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Bo has worked 28 NCAA Baseball World Series', 6 men's and women's NCAA Final Fours, 78 total postseason football games (including the inaugural College Football Playoffs in 2014) as well as 36 Cotton Bowl Classics. He has extensive publication experience including 32 football media guides, 13 basketball guides, and 32 baseball guides. He was tri-author for the 2016 Dizzy Dean documentary, "Dizzy: Dean of Baseball an my Podnah."
