Hal Hughston
Inductee
A graduate of Deshler High School, Hal Hughston was the place kicker for the Tigers from 1998-2000 and was outstanding during the State Championship season that the football teams achieved in 1998 and 199 respectively. Hal's statistics during his three-year high school career were impressive with 79 consecutive PAT's (1999-2000), 6 field goals (1998-99) including one of 43 years. He finished the 1999 season with 89 total points, which was first in the state for kickers. he also completed his high school career with 214 total points. Hal kicked a 34-yard field goal with 6 seconds left in the 1999 Semi-Final Playoffs to put Deshler in the 4A State Championship Game that year. He was selected to the Times Daily ALL-Area team in both 1999 and 2000 as well as being named Honorable Mention ALL-State for both years. He was also a member of the Tiger Golf team making the State Golf Tournament in 2000. Following high school, Hal was the kicker for Samford University where he was a three year starter and Letterman. He scored 10 points in Samford's 2004 victory over Southeast Missouri State– including one kick from 43 yards.
