Shannon was a graduate of Muscle Shoals High School in 2002 where she was a three sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and track. In volleyball she was a valuable member of the Lady Trojan teams that captured four consecutive 5A state Championships and she played in the North-south All Star Game. As a member of the basketball squad Shannon scored over 2000 points in her career, was chosen to the All Colbert County Tournament Team, All-Area Team, and an alternate to play in the North-South All Star Game. In track Shannon was named to the All-Area Team, and placed second in the 1600 meters, second in the 3200 meters and fourth in 800 meters in the 5A State Track Meet. After high school she lettered in volleyball one year for Mississippi University for Women and then transferred to University of Alabama lettering for two years' on both the Crimson Tide cross country and track team.
