Anthony had what Colbert County High School basketball coach and Hall of Fame member Arthur Andrews called the sweetest fall away jump shot form the baseline he ever saw. A 1982 graduate of Muscle Shoals High School, he was chosen as a McDonald's All-American Athlete, Times Daily Player of the Year and All-State during his senior season as a member of the Trojans basketball team. After high school he was signed to a basketball scholarship by Tampa University. Following his freshman season he decided to return home to play for the University of North Alabama, lettering 3 years for the Lions. Following his graduation from UNA., Anthony began a basketball coaching career that included stops at Colbert County, Haleyville, UNA, Fort Payne and he is currently the varsity basketball coach at Florence High School. He led Haleyville to the quarterfinals of the 4A State Tournament, Fort Payne to the Final Four in Class 5A and was the AHSAA 2000 Class 5A Basketball Coach of the Year. He also coached Fort Payne's Boys Golf Tram to a State Championship and was selected the 5A Coach of the Year. Anthony was a graduate assistant at UNA when they captured the 1991 Division II National Basketball Championship.
