Katie graduated from Muscle Shoals High School in 1999 where she was an outstanding member of both the Trojan volleyball and track teams. She was selected All-County and All-Area in volleyball in 1996, 1997 and 1998. She was also selected to the Regional All-Tournament Team in 1997 and 1998 as well as the 1997 5A All-State Team. She helped lead the 1995 and 1997 team to the 5A State Championship Final Four before capturing the State Championship in 1998. In 1998 her teammates voted her as the Most Valuable Player and Team Captain. After high school Katie was signed to a volleyball scholarship by David Lipscomb University where she played in 2000 before returning home to play for Northwest Community College in 2001 and 2002. Katie graduated in 2003 from the University of North Alabama with a BS in nursing and is now a nurse practitioner.
