Jack Weaver

Inductee

A native of Georgia, Jack was a much respected assistant and Head football coach in the Shoals Area for 19 years. Prior to accepting an assistant coaching position at Colbert Heights High School under Coach Ricky Lindsey as the defensive coordinator in 1974-1975 he had been on the staff of Head Football Coach Mickey Andrews at Florence State University now UNA as well as serving as track and cross country coach. His years as a Head Coach included stops at Brooks High School twice, Sheffield High School and at Colbert Heights. His combined record during those years was 77-58. He took over as the Head Coach at Brooks in 1979-80 inheriting a team that had losing records for three years running and turned things around in just three years going 5-5 the first season, 8-2 in his second season and followed that up with an undefeated team in his third with a 10-0 campaign. He also became the Head Coach at Sheffield following 7 years of modest success and led the 1985 Sheffield Bulldogs to the quarterfinals of the State Playoffs with 11 wins in just three years after rebuilding the program. Those that have known Jack over the years know his greatest accomplishments were in taking over programs that were struggling and working to turn those players and teams into winners both on and off the field. He was a master at getting young men out to play football that had never played before in hopes of their contributing to the team for certain, but also to be a positive influence in their lives as hundreds of those players will tell you he was. A player's Coach is what young men that played for him always say about Coach Weaver, and he would say there is no better compliment.
