A 1991 graduate of Cherokee Vocational High school, Jai was a four sport athlete for the Indians in football, basketball, baseball and running track. While he was a valuable contributor in all sports, it was track that he excelled as he was the 3A State Champion in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 4x100 relay team, and the 1600 meter relay team. Highlighting his high school track career was his breaking the state record in the 100 and 200 meter dash. He also ran track during his ten years in the United States Army. Jai has worked seventeen years for the Muscle Shoals Park and Recreation Department making a difference in lives of the many youngsters that have passed through the recreational program of the city. He has also officiated high school football for the past eighteen years and has been a part two Super 7 State Championship crews.
