Mark was a Deshler High graduate in 1986 and was an outstanding athlete for the Tigers in wrestling, football, and baseball. While being a valuable contributor as an overall athlete it was in wrestling that he excelled, going 29-2 in his matches during his junior year as he was the State Runner-up in the 167-pound weight class. He then followed that up as a senior when he was 33-2 in his regular season matches and was the State Champion in his weight class. After high school he became the volunteer wrestling coach at Muscle Shoals High School from 2010-2014 and became a football, basketball, and softball official in the AHSAA. He has officiated football for 28 years and has officiated state playoff games including four state final games. Mark was the 2015-2016 AHSAA Football Official of the Year. In basketball he has also been an official for 28 years including officiating the regional finals at Wallace State. Mark has been the assigning secretary for our local Tennessee Valey Football Officials Association for the past eight years.
