Bill graduated from Berry High School in Birmingham, Alabama where he played basketball and football. He went on to graduate from Auburn University in 1974 and earned his Masters as well as an EDS from the University of North Alabama. His first coaching job was at Lyman Ward Military Academy where he was the varsity basketball coach and assistant coach in football. Following the two years there he moved to North Alabama where he began coaching carer that has spanned 37 years. He has coached at Sheffield High School, Colbert County High, Covenant Christian School and Northwest Shoals Junior College. Bill's records and achievements as a basketball coach are tremendous. As a B-Varsity Junior High and High School Coach he he coached in 1,375 total games. His varsity record is 554-256. Varsity teams he has coached have won 20 or more games 14 times. His teams have been in the final sixteen twice, the final eight, the final four and was states runner-up in 1994. During his years in coaching, he has been selected the Times daily Coach of the Yea four times and was the State Coach of the Year in 1992 and 1994. In addition to coaching, Bill has served as an administrator in the Colbert County School system and is currently the Principal at Covenant Christian School. He continues to coach both varsity girls and varsity boys basketball.
