Jerry Knight graduated from Deshler High School in 1961where he played football and ran track. He is a veteran Shoals area high school and college sportscaster for the past 40 years. Jerry served as play-by-play sports-caster for Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Coffee and was the "Voice" of the University of North Alabama Lions for nine years. He did play-by-play for the National Basketball Champion Lions in 1991 as well as three consecutive National Football Champion teams from 1993-1995

Jerry broadcast state tournament basketball games for 20 years, 125 football and basketball playoff games for various shoals area schools, has been the Master of Ceremonies eight times for the Harlon Hill Awards Ceremony and was selected three times as the Shoals Sportscaster of the Year" by area coaches.

One of the programs Jerry is best known for  isw the Saturday morning "Coaches Breakfast' aired on live radio for eighteen years. This program started and produced by him was followed and enjoyed by all area football fans. It was instrumental in promoting high school sports in our area and provided an opportunity for play ers, coaches and fans to bond together.
