Coach Moore coached football in Mississippi for 25 years before retiring in 1992 and moving to Alabama to become the head football coach at Colbert County High School.He coached for nineteen years at Hamilton High School, six years at New Hope High School and nine more with the Indians.

 

His overall coaching record was 305-102-5 Coach Moore led teams to state titles in both Mississippi and Alabama, as ell as, numerous conference championships before the play-off system came into being. 

 

In Mississippi, his teams won state championships in both 1981 and 1982. In Alabama, he led Colbert County to state titles in 1993, 1994 and 1996. He was selected to the Mississippi Hall of Fame in 1997.

 

Even though Coach Moore came to the Shoals area late in his career, he was respected y his peers for his knowledge of the game and his easy-going manner. Jimmy died in May, 2003 after a long battle with kidney cancer.
