Harold was a four-year letterman in football, baseball and track for the Deshler Tigers. He also lettered in basketball for three years. "Tater" as he is known was the L.A. Grogan recipient in 1953 as the Outstanding Senior Football Player in the Shoals. Following high school he served in the Army playing service football. He then received a scholarship to East Mississippi Junior College where he played for famed coach Bull" Sullivan. After one year he transferred to Florence State and was a four-year letterman playing both quarterback and linebacker from 1957-1960. Harold was named to the 50th Anniversary Football Team in 1998. After college he coached for 19 years in Lauderdale County and was a respected AHSAA basketball official. He also umpired baseball and softball.
