Inductee

Darrius was an outstanding high school athlete playing football, basketball, baseball and running track for the Cherokee Indians. During his high school career while playing running back and line backer he rushed for over 3,000 yards, had 350 receiving yards, 300 tackles, five interceptions with two returned for touchdowns, eight fumble recoveries and 10 sacks. He was named to both the All-Area and All-State teams and played in the North/South All-Star game. In track he was a 2A 100m State Champion and was part of a 2A State Champion and was part of a 2A State Champion 4x100 relay team. He also lettered in basketball and baseball. After high school he was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Alabama Birmingham where he played linebacker for the Blazers. Darrius lettered four years at UAB and was voted to the Conference USA All-Freshman team in 2001. He now coaches at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama.
