Class of 2005

"Bubba" graduated from Sheffield High School and was a letterman in both football and baseball. He was a Bulldog co-captain in football in 1949-50 and was voted one of Sheffield's 100 greatest Football Players. Following high school he was offered a chance to play professionally for both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs, but because of his ability in fast pitch softball he landed a job with Reynolds where he worked for 42 years. In 1954 the Reynolds team won the State Championship and went on to the regionals. He officiated high school football for 23 years and called 8 play-off games before retiring in 1977. In addition to a great playing career he was instrumental in starting the Sheffield Little League Program.
