Jack was 1957 graduate of Cherokee Vocational High School where he played football and was selected to both the All-Area and All-State teams in both his junior and senior seasons.He was also selected to participate in the North-South All-Star football game and again excelled scoring both touchdowns in a 12-7 North victory. Additionally Jack was a high school All-American and following graduation he was signed to a scholarship to the University of Alabama.
