Cecil Dowdy

Class of 2001

Cecil Dowdy graduated from Cherokee Vocational High School and the University of Alabama. During his high school career, he was chosen the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in the Muscle Shoals area. He was selected to the All-State team his senior year.

 

As a player at Alabama, he was All-SEC, First Team All-American, and winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. In 1966, he was chosen as the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in the Nation by the Columbus, Ohio Touchdown Club. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League and is on the second All-Century Team at the University of Alabama.
