Andy Martin

Inductee

Andy graduated from Muscle Shoals High School in 1980 and was considered one of the 25 quarterbacks in the country and one of Alabama's top 10 most wanted high school players as a senior. He was described as one of the most versatile athletes to come out of Muscle Shoals and Alabama that year as he was named first team All-state quarterback and second team All-State linebacker. During his senior season Andy accounted for over 1500 years in total offence for the Trojans and was a member of North quad in the Alabama North-South All-Star Game. He was also named to the Adidas High School All-American Team.

Following an excellent senior season leading Muscle Shoals to their first ever 9-win season, Andy was offered scholarships to several schools including Tennessee, Auburn, and Ole Miss. Andy chose to sign with Bear Bryant and the University of Alabama. Andy hurt his shoulder in the North-South All-Star game prior to going to Tuscaloosa and missed most of his first year for the Tide. During the spring of 1980 he got the attention of Coach Bryant as he scored on runs of seven and four yards along with a 36 yard scoring pass to Joey Jones, but the continuing nagging shoulder injury cut his career short.
