Bob was a 1969 graduate of Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama, were he wrestled and played football. After high school, he walked on and wrestled for the Auburn Tigers, graduating in 1974. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Huntsville High School and became the head wrestling coach at Deshler High School in 1975. His Tiger Mat teams won three state titles and finished as runner up six times. He coached wrestlers that won 48 individual state titles. He also coached football and golf at Deshler. In 1994 he returned to Huntsville as an assistant in wrestling to former Tiger state champion, Benjie Balentine, and helped coach ten individual state champs. Bob also officiated wrestling for more that 20 years. He has now retired from coaching but still teaches at Huntsville High School.
