George Williams attended Deshler High School where he was a four sport athlete for the Tigers. Following high school he went on to Auburn University playing four years and helping to lead the team to an undefeated season in 1932. He was named the All-Sec quarterback in 1933 and was chosen team captain that same year. " Ripper " as he was known by his teammates was recognized by the All- American Board of Directors for his exceptional career in 1934. George was a charter member and was  instrumental in organizing the Tri-Cites Quarterback along with forming the first Auburn Alumni group in the Shoals Area.
