A graduate of Deshler High School Jimmy is truly an example of an athlete that has paid it forward. He was an All-Area shortstop on the Tiger baseball team in both 1982 and 1983 with a batting average of over .400 as he helped lead Deshler to the State Finals in 1982 and to a Regional and County Championship in 1983. He was also selected to play in the 1983 East-West All-Star Game. In Football he was All-Area in 1982 as well as Honorable Mention All-State as a Quarterback and running back rushing for over 1100 yards. He was a 2-year starter in basketball and was a four-year letterman in track running the 880 and a leg on the mile relay team. Following high school Jimmy went on to start for two years in baseball at Wallace State and 2 years at Birmingham Southern. After completing Dental School and going into practice in Tuscumbia he was the “ Voice of the Tigers ‘’ on the radio for 28 years promoting Deshler High School along with organizing and promoting “Saddle Up for St. Jude” that raised over 2 million dollars for St. Jude Children and Research Hospital.
